Internap Corporation Plans Dallas, Texas, Data Center Expansion
09/08/2017
"Dallas is INAP's second largest data center metro market," stated Corey Needles, INAP COLO's Senior Vice President and General Manager. "We are investing in an expansion project given its high occupancy and attractive Tier 3-type attributes to meet enterprise customer requirements. This buildout of our existing facility creates a path for our sales team to keep up with the demand and momentum INAP has established in the Dallas metro market."
Currently, the INAP Dallas data center is 75% occupied which is higher than INAP's average occupancy rate. The buildout is designed to open a new pod, and add over 1 MW of new power to support the expansion.
"We are very excited about this strategic investment, as it demonstrates our commitment to current and prospective customers to make growth space available on demand. Our customers can plan ahead and have the certainty of speed to market to help their businesses grow with a high-performance infrastructure," said Michael Higgins, INAP COLO's Senior Vice President, Sales & Customer Service.
According to company officials, overall Dallas area is generally considered a prime location for disaster recovery, offers lower power costs, and has high growth potential for additional space. Additionally, given its location in the middle of the U.S., Dallas is strategically positioned due to its proximity and access to both the east and west coasts. INAP's Dallas data center and Infomart connectivity via fiber meets premium Tier 3-type data center specifications, supports up to 20 kW per cabinet, and has a proven track record of redundancy, security, and uptime.
