Rio Ammunition Opens Marshall, Texas, Manufacturing Plant

06/26/2015
Rio Ammunition, a subsidiary of Spain-based MAXAM Outdoors, opened its new 105,000 square foot manufacturing facility on an 11-acre campus in Marshall, Texas. The company is expected to employ more than 60 associates.

According to company officials the plant, which will be able to produce more than one million shot shells per day, will allow Rio to continue to expand its distribution footprint throughout the U.S. and North America with products manufactured domestically in Texas.

Inigo Rodriguez, Rio Ammunition's Managing Director, said he is excited about the future prospects for the company, "This factory in Marshall, TX, will allow us to supply our customers with our renowned products much more quickly and efficiently."

“The people of Marshall have a new way to provide for their families and work in an exciting field,” Texas House Speaker Joe Straus said. “Local residents and businesses will benefit from this plant whether they work here or not”.

According to company officials, The design of this new factory has been carried out by incorporating a new manufacturing concept based on Lean Methodologies.

At a practical level, this means that the production lines will be able to respond quicker to customer demand, thereby reducing the amount of time between when an order is placed and when the final product is delivered.

Íñigo Rodríguez Buche, Rio Ammunition’s General Manager, said “Due to the complexity of the machinery, the installation process has been a key milestone in the whole process of this factory’s construction. While all this construction was underway in Marshall, a fantastic team working both in our headquarters and the U.S. has made sure that all the pieces of this puzzle are in the right place: logistics, mechanics, operations, human resources, as well as ongoing production efforts at our plant in Iruña de Oca in Spain”

“With this state-of-the-art facility, Rio is set to not only remain a key player within the U.S. market but definitively consolidate its position and grow further,” he added.
