Korea's Hyundai Heavy Industries Creates 480 Jobs in Montgomery, Alabama
Area Development Online News Desk (07/16/2010)
Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries has chosen Montgomery, Alabama for the site of its first American manufacturing plant, investing $90 million and creating 480 jobs. The facility will produce large power transformers, and is expected to begin operations in early 2012.

“We would personally like to thank HHI for the confidence they have placed in us by locating their plant here,” said Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange. “We look forward to a great relationship with them while they expand their market in the U.S.”

The state, county, and city offered an incentive package to the company that helped Montgomery stand out over other cities in southern states Hyundai considered. Hyundai Heavy Industries has operations in shipbuilding, offshore and engineering, industrial plant and engineering, engine and machinery, construction equipment, and electro electric systems.
