It’s a roughly $800 million investment, planned over a seven-year period, expanding existing laboratory, manufacturing, and warehouse space. Helping seal the deal were state incentives of up to $140 million. In a statement announcing the expansion, Gov. Andrew Cuomo called it a sign of New York’s prominence in life sciences: “Regeneron’s expansion will further drive economic growth in the Capital Regions and fuel lifesaving innovation and development that benefits the entire world.”
The company’s CEO, Leonard Schleifer, said the move reflects ongoing growth in Regeneron’s product pipeline: “As our number of approved and investigational medicines continues to grow, our need for world-class manufacturing teams and facilities also increases.” The company’s products treat a wide range of ailments, including auto-inflammatory conditions, colorectal cancer, adult atopic dermatitis, rheumatoid arthritis, and blindness in the elderly.
