North American Lighting Plans $36 Million Expansion In Muscle Shoals, Alabama

The Shoals Economic Development Authority said North American Lighting plans to add 200,000 square feet to its manufacturing plant, bringing its facility to 600,000 square feet. This is the second expansion for the plant in the last two years. Two years ago the auto headlight and tail light manufacturer said it planned a $35 million expansion with plans to add 250 employees.
Earlier this week the SEDA, whose officials voiced surprise that their area was chosen by the firm for expansion, recommended allocation of $260,000 from its Economic Development Fund. The award still has to be approved by the SEDA committee. The county also plans to make infrastructure improvements at the plant site. The company said local official’s willingness and flexibility to quickly respond to its requests persuaded it to choose Muscle Shoals.
