Averitt Expands Bullitt County, Kentucky, Operations

05/11/2026
Transportation and supply chain management provider Averitt plans to expand its operations in Bullitt County, Kentucky. The more than $113 million project is expected to create 64 jobs.

The investment will include the construction of a new regional campus featuring a 10,000-square-foot office, a 50,000-square-foot cross-dock facility, and more than 286,000 square feet of warehouse and fulfillment space. Operations are scheduled to begin in 2028.

“This Louisville expansion is a significant and unique facility investment for Averitt,” said Barry Blakely, President and Chief Operating Officer of Averitt. “The new campus will allow us to provide faster, more adaptable, and more efficient service, while enhancing our capacity to meet increasing freight demand in the Greater Louisville area and all across the South.”

To support the project, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement under the Kentucky Business Investment program. The performance-based agreement can provide up to $2 million in tax incentives based on the company’s investment and job creation commitments.

“Kentucky’s distribution and logistics sector continues to help fuel our red-hot economy and create good jobs for our people,” noted Governor Andy Beshear. “Our talented workforce, incentive programs, unique location and speed-to-market resources are helping make the commonwealth an attractive destination for shipping companies looking to locate or expand.”

By meeting annual targets over the agreement term, Averitt may claim incentives against its income tax liability and/or wage assessments. The company also will have access to workforce training and recruitment assistance through Kentucky’s workforce service providers. In addition, Averitt can receive resources from Kentucky’s workforce service providers. Those include no-cost recruitment and job placement services, reduced-cost customized training and job-training incentives.

“Averitt’s expansion exemplifies that the Louisville region is not only bringing in new businesses but growing our existing companies who have been investing in our region for decades,” added Trevor Pawl, CEO of One Louisville. “It is a testament to our logistics advantages and a win for the region.”

Averitt provides freight, distribution, and logistics services, supporting customers through trucking, warehousing, and integrated supply chain operations. The company’s activities include less-than-truckload shipping, dedicated transportation, and freight management services.

“Working with Mayor Eadens, Judge Summers and Louisville Mayor Greenberg to bring this $113 million investment into the north end of the county shows how valuable a regional approach is,” said Keith Griffee, director of Bullitt County Community and Economic Development. “Bullitt County Community and Economic Development, the City of Hillview and One Louisville all working toward a common goal to strengthen both Bullitt and Jefferson counties.”
