Transcendia Upgrades Wayne County, Indiana, Manufacturing Operations

Transcendia, Inc., an extruded plastics manufacturer, plans to upgrade its manufacturing operations in Wayne County, Indiana. The $17 million project is expected to create at least 30 jobs.

The investment will include converting part of the company’s existing warehouse facility to manufacturing space and purchasing new equipment.

"These are exciting times for Transcendia’s employees and customers, said Transcendia Plant Manager, Cody Cohoon. “This investment will allow us to provide customers with even greater value by utilizing technologies we’ve never had before, while also expanding into high-margin markets like Healthcare and Food & Beverage. Our employees will be operating state-of-the-art equipment that is safer and easier to use. This investment will also help our legacy business with improved efficiencies. We appreciate the continued support from city, county, and state officials.”

Based on the company’s job creation and investment plans, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) committed an investment in Transcendia of up to $200,000 in the form of incentive-based tax credits and up to $100,000 in Hoosier Business Investment tax credits. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired.

“Indiana’s robust manufacturing sector continues to grow and evolve alongside advancements in technology, enabling companies like Transcendia to improve efficiencies and serve even more customers around the world,” noted Ann Lathrop, chief strategy officer at the IEDC. “Transcendia’s commitment to growing in Indiana is a testament to our strong and collaborative manufacturing ecosystem, our skilled talent pipeline, and our shared commitment to building modern and vibrant communities. Today’s announcement is sure to have a lasting impact on Richmond’s economic momentum and community development for years to come.”

The company will also receive $95,000 in an Economic Development Income Tax Grant from the Economic Development Corporation of Wayne County. The grant can be used for employee training, improvements to buildings, or equipment purchase and installation.

“It’s a compliment to the business environment and labor force of Richmond and Wayne County when an existing company continues to grow and invest here,” added EDC of Wayne County President, Valerie Shaffer. “It’s a reaffirmation that they made the right decision in locating here.”
