Maker of Car Seats Expanding in Columbus, Indiana

01/19/2010
Dorel Juvenile Group, which makes child car seats and strollers, plans to expand its operations in southern Indiana, ultimately resulting in the addition of more than 90 jobs.

They company plans to invest nearly $21 million over the next four years to start a new car-seat development center - which will include a crash-test sled and side-impact testing machines - and to increase its manufacturing capacity in Columbus. Company officials say some of the positions will be moved from Dorel's headquarters in Foxboro, Mass. Dorel currently makes 90 percent of its car seats at the Columbus facility, where it has about 850 workers.
