Pivot Bio Expands Hazelwood, Missouri, Operations

04/29/2026
Agricultural biotechnology company Pivot Bio plans to expand its operations in Hazelwood, Missouri. The more than $7 million project is expected to create 40 jobs.

The investment includes the relocation and consolidation of the company’s Research, Development, and Innovation Center and its Customer and Operations Success Center.

“This expansion reflects Pivot Bio’s continued commitment to helping farmers increase reliability, efficiency and profitability,” said Chris Abbott, CEO of Pivot Bio. “By investing in the St. Louis region, we’re strengthening our ability to deliver breakthrough innovations while creating high-quality jobs.”

To support the project, Pivot Bio will benefit from the Missouri Works Program, which provides access to capital through tax credits or withholdings tied to job creation and investment.

“Pivot Bio’s continued growth in the Greater St. Louis area is exactly the kind of economic activity that helps Missourians prosper,” noted Michelle Hataway, Director of the Missouri Department of Economic Development. “We’re proud to support companies advancing innovation in agriculture while creating new opportunities.”

Pivot Bio develops microbial solutions for crop nutrition, particularly nitrogen delivery. The company’s operations include research, manufacturing, and distribution of biological inputs for agriculture.

“The agtech industry has been essential to the St. Louis economy, and this expansion will further strengthen that position,” added Rodney Crim, CEO and President of the St. Louis Economic Development Partnership. “This investment enhances the region’s capabilities and brings new, well-paying jobs to the community.”
