Ferrara Candy Plans Orangeburg County, South Carolina, Production Operations

04/25/2026
Confectionery manufacturer Ferrara Candy Company plans to establish operations in Orangeburg County, South Carolina. The $675 million project is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs over the next 10 years.

The investment will include the construction of a 750,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located at Highway 21 and Rowesville Road that will house processing and packaging processes, a warehouse for raw and finished materials, and administrative offices. Production is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2029.

“Our new Orangeburg facility represents a major step forward in transforming Ferrara’s manufacturing scale and capability,” said Marco Capurso, CEO of Ferrara Candy Company. “We are excited to grow in South Carolina and appreciate the strong partnership from state and local leaders.”

To support the project, the State Fiscal Accountability Authority authorized up to $85 million in General Obligation State Economic Development Bonds for site acquisition and infrastructure. The Coordinating Council for Economic Development also approved job development credits tied to job creation and investment.

“We are excited to welcome Ferrara Candy Company to the Palmetto State,” noted Harry M. Lightsey III, Secretary of Commerce for South Carolina. “This investment will create quality jobs and drive long-term economic growth for the region.”

Ferrara Candy Company manufactures and distributes confectionery products, including gummies, chocolates, and sugar-based candies. The company operates as part of the Ferrero Group and manages a portfolio of well-known candy brands sold across retail channels in the U.S. and internationally.

“The $675 million investment provides a significant boost to our local economy,” added Ty Davenport, Executive Director of the Orangeburg County Development Commission. “This project will have a lasting impact on the community and surrounding region.”
