Crystal Steel Fabricators Opens Manufacturing Center In Caroline County, Maryland

Crystal Steel Fabricators, a structural steel fabricator headquartered in Delmar, Delaware, is opening a new manufacturing facility in Caroline County, Maryland.  The company plans on creating 126 new jobs over the next two years.

The company recently acquired the 100,000 square-foot former ES Steel building in the Frank Adams Industrial Park in Federalsburg. This is the first Maryland location for Crystal Steel, which also has facilities in Pennsylvania, Tennessee, and the Philippines.

“We are always excited to provide people with great career opportunities, and many of our employees have been with us for 10 years or more,” said Emad Mohamed, Executive Vice President at Crystal Steel. “We expect strong growth, which will provide folks in Federalsburg with the chance to move up and become leaders.”

To assist with project costs, the Maryland Department of Commerce approved a $315,000 conditional loan through its Maryland Economic Development Assistance Authority and Fund (MEDAAF) based on committed job creation and capital expenditures. Additionally, Caroline County and the Town of Federalsburg approved a 10 percent match of the state’s funding. The company also qualifies for the county’s and town’s manufacturing tax credit, which provides real property tax abatement on the improvements to the property. The company is also eligible for a number of state tax credits, including the Job Creation tax credit, Enterprise Zone tax credit and One Maryland tax credit.

“Crystal Steel’s plan to invest more than $4 million and create more than 126 jobs is exactly the kind of economic development our administration pledged to bring to Maryland," said Governor Hogan, a strong advocate for Maryland manufacturing jobs. "In addition to bringing high-paying jobs to the Eastern Shore, employees will learn new skills like lean manufacturing and CNC programming. This project is a win for Crystal Steel, a win for the Caroline County, and a win for the citizens of Maryland.”
