Spain's Iberdrola Planning Solar Plants in Arizona and Colorado

10/14/2010
Iberdrola Renewables, a Spanish solar company, is planning to build two solar power plants in Alamosa, Colorado, and Copper Crossing, Arizona. The Colorado facility will have a 30-megawatt capacity, while the Arizona site will have a 20-megawatt capacity.

The company says it is the second largest wind power operator in the United States, with 97 percent of its capacity in producing wind products. But it is also beginning to invest in the solar panel sector and other renewable, non-wind opportunities.

Iberdrola has operations in 23 states, with a total capacity of 4,314 megawatts across 47 wind farms. It is now targeting the United States and Britain for projects.
