Swiss-based Nyrstar Establishes Its Headquarters For the Americas In Downtown Fort Lauderdale
10/18/2013
Gov. Rick Scott said, “Nyrstar’s relocation of its corporate headquarters to Fort Lauderdale is great news for Florida families. We have eliminated burdensome regulations on businesses and we are the number one place in the nation for business, and people are taking notice. IT’S WORKING in Florida.”
Nyrstar U.S., Inc. manages current mining operations in Canada, the U.S., Mexico, Honduras, Chile and Peru. “We plan to have our corporate headquarters office for mining in the Americas in Fort Lauderdale for two primary reasons: for a more geographical central base for the current mining operations and for a most cost effective environment,” said Graham Buttenshaw, Senior Vice President Mining at Nyrstar.
“We recognize and appreciate the support of Florida Governor Rick Scott; Florida Secretary of Commerce and President of Enterprise Florida Gray Swoope and Vice President of Business Development Robert Sitterley; City of Fort Lauderdale Mayor Jack Seiler, City Manager Lee Feldman and the City Commission; and Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance CEO Council Chairman Ray Ferrero, Jr. and Managing Director Robin Ronne, who have all made us feel welcomed and appreciated for the positive economic development that Nyrstar brings to both Florida and the Greater Fort Lauderdale area,” he added.
Secretary of Commerce and president and CEO of Enterprise Florida Gray Swoope said, “Nyrstar’s choice to locate its Americas headquarters to Fort Lauderdale shows confidence in the state’s ability to compete. Not only did Florida prove to be the best fit nationally, but the state’s resources and pro-business climate won this project on a global scale. We are proud to have Nyrstar in the state and we look forward to being a part of the company’s future successes.”
The project was made possible through strong partnerships between Enterprise Florida, the City of Fort Lauderdale, the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance CEO Council and the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.
Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance CEO Council Chairman Ray Ferrero, Jr. stated “We are so pleased to welcome Nyrstar to Fort Lauderdale, and appreciate the opportunity to collaborate with our partners at the Governor’s Office, Enterprise Florida and the City of Fort Lauderdale. The CEO Council’s mission to maintain and grow the presence of more than 150 corporate and international headquarter operations in the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County area that can take advantage of our world class quality of life, international transportation access and highly rated business and personal tax climate, is exemplified in no better way than by Nyrstar’s relocation decision.”
