Utili-Serve Expands Conover, North Carolina, Headquarters Operations

10/20/2026
Utility infrastructure services company Utili-Serve, LLC plans to expand its headquarters in Conover, North Carolina. The more than $24.8 million project is expected to create 105 jobs in Catawba County.

The investment will include the construction of a 25,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the company’s existing headquarters, adding field control and protective relay panel manufacturing capabilities.

“Conover is our home. Since 2008, we have connected North Carolina and the southeastern United States to power,” said Utili-Serve President Ben Dietrich. “As grid demand grows, Utili-Serve remains committed to supporting our energy partners, investing locally, expanding our capabilities, and creating new opportunities for our employees and community.”

To support the project, a performance-based grant of $250,000 from the One North Carolina Fund has been extended. The OneNC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All OneNC grants require matching participation from local governments, and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

“Utili-Serve’s expansion reflects the confidence companies have in North Carolina’s business climate,” noted North Carolina Commerce Secretary Lee Lilley. “This decision supercharges North Carolina’s reputation for technical excellence in the energy sector and underscores our commitment to create more opportunities for economic prosperity.”

In addition to the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC), other partners in the project include the North Carolina General Assembly, Commerce’s Division of Workforce Solutions, the North Carolina Community College System, Catawba Valley Community College, Duke Energy, Catawba County, the City of Conover, and the Catawba County Economic Development Corporation.

“Throughout this process, Utili-Serve has indicated to our EDC team a desire to better engage the community's workforce pipelines,” added Catawba County Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors Chair Jeff Cline. “We look forward to working with them as they navigate and grow their talent needs. This expansion creates more than jobs. It creates long-term career opportunities while strengthening a company that is already deeply invested in our community.”

Utili-Serve specializes in electrical utility infrastructure construction, maintenance and technical services. The company provides substation construction, transformer and apparatus services, protective relay panel manufacturing, installation and commissioning, and related services for electric power providers.
