10/22/2013
The company will manufacture anchor bolt assemblies, steel davit arms and substation infrastructure for the power line transmission industry at its new 28,000-square-foot site in Lehigh County. The company will invest more than $1.94 million to support the expansion through building construction, acquisition of equipment and furniture. Summit Utility Structures is projected to create 42 new jobs at this site.
"We are all very pleased to have had such a long running relationship with the Governor's Action Team,” said Ranjeet Pawer, Director of Marketing for Summit Utility Structures, LLC. “The Governor's Action Team's assistance with Summit Utility Structures will mark our third entrepreneurial venture within the state's steel industry. Our experience with the GAT is a testament to the benefits of having a state that is willing to partner with its citizens to help them to fulfill the American dream."
“Every day we are seeing more progress and announcing new jobs throughout Pennsylvania,” said Gov. Tom Corbett. “Summit Utility Structures will be a welcome addition to Allentown’s industry and will create high-skilled, well-paying jobs for the region’s residents.”
As an incentive, the company received a funding offer from the Governor’s Action Team which included an $18,900 Guaranteed Free Training grant to be used to train its new workforce and a $930,000 low-interest loan from the Machinery and Equipment Loan Fund to be repaid in 10 years.
The Governor’s Action Team coordinated the project with the Lehigh Valley Economic Development Corporation. “This is a good example of how the Lehigh Valley continues to attract entrepreneurs to invest in our region and create jobs,” said Don Cunningham, LVEDC President and CEO. “Summit Utility Structures partners have many years of experience in the steel pole industry and specifically making anchor bolts, allowing them to have an immediate presence in our community.”
