Indiana Wire and Cable Manufacturer Investing $1.3 Million for Expansion

10/08/2009
Superior Essex, a manufacturer of magnet wire and cable, will invest $1.3 million to expand its operations in Fort Wayne, Indiana, according to the Indiana governor's office. The Georgia-headquartered company will transition production from a facility in New York by December and create 15 new jobs; the manufacturing facility in Fort Wayne is co-located with the company's primary Midwest distribution center. "We believe that expanding operations within our Fort Wayne distribution center will allow us to further improve manufacturing processes, flow, and techniques," says Hank Pennington, vice president and general manager for the company's Essex Brownell division. "This will, in turn, improve our quality, responsiveness, and capacity." The state has offered Superior Essex up to $400,000 in performance-based tax credits and up to $55,000 in training grants, contingent on job creation; the city will also consider additional property tax abatement.
