Provalus Plans North Wilkesboro, North Carolina, Center of Excellence

IT services company Provalus plans to establish operations in North Wilkesboro, North Carolina. The $1.05 million project is expected to create 150 jobs in Wilkes County.

The investment will include the upfit of an existing office space at 711 Main Street.

“Partnering with the city of North Wilkesboro, along with other community and state leaders, to bring a second Center of Excellence to North Carolina has been an incredible experience. This expansion is a testament to the shared vision between our team and local leaders to create meaningful opportunities for the community. We’re proud to bring new jobs and resources to this region and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have for years to come,” said Will Ruzic, Vice President of Facilities and Operations of Optomi, LLC.

To support the project a performance-based grant of $150,000 will be provided from the One North Carolina Fund, based on the company’s investment and job creation over three years. The OneNC Fund provides financial assistance to local governments to help attract economic investment and to create jobs. Companies receive no money upfront and must meet job creation and capital investment targets to qualify for payment. All OneNC grants require a matching grant from local governments and any award is contingent upon that condition being met.

“Technology companies thrive in North Carolina, and I’m thrilled to see Provalus expand to Wilkes County,” noted Commerce Secretary Machelle Baker Sanders. “We’ve seen great success in economic development due to our focus on the critical fundamentals that keep new jobs coming to North Carolina, particularly our drive to be first in talent.” Provalus, the operating name of Optomi, LLC, is an information technology outsourcing firm providing BPO and IT ?services to technology clients and end-users.

Partnering with the North Carolina Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC) on the project were the North Carolina General Assembly, the North Carolina Community College System, the Commerce Department’s Division of Workforce Solutions, the Town of North Wilkesboro, Wilkes County, and the Wilkes Economic Development Corporation.
