Loop Cold Storage and Loop Fresh Produce Expanding in McAllen, Texas
02/28/2011
"Previous expansions were made primarily in conjunction with growth in food exports from central Mexico," said John McGuire, vice president of business development. "The motivation behind expansion has always been growth in import business from existing customers. We will continue to support those customers' growth and now hope to expand relationships with some growers in western Mexico. Loop Fresh hopes to continue to grow with existing customers and form relationships with a few shippers from west Mexico."
Loop will build a new facility to bring the company's total cooler space to 150,000 square feet and its freezer storage space to 300,000 square feet.
Mexico has almost completed the country's federal Highway 40, which links its eastern and western regions. The Baluarte Bridge, expected to be completed in 2012, will finally link the areas and open new markets for U.S.-Mexico business.
