ATC Drivetrain Plans Knoxville, Tennessee, Manufacturing Plant
03/18/2022
The site is scheduled to begin production in April 2022 and will support the company’s growing remanufacturing and battery life cycle management businesses.
"Our customers are the focus of all we do at ATC Drivetrain. This expansion is driven by increased demand from our customers, and the Knox County location is particularly well suited for our future plans as Tennessee, and the broader region, are home to a rapidly developing electrification ecosystem. We greatly appreciate the State of Tennessee’s support with this expansion,” Greg Heald, president & CEO, ATC Drivetrain said.
This is the latest of several new investments ATC Drivetrain has made recently, including the implementation of new technologies and capabilities in the global battery and electric vehicle powertrain market and an increased presence in the commercial vehicle market.
“With more than 920 automotive businesses across the state, Tennessee is a driving force in the southern automotive corridor. We appreciate ATC Drivetrain’s decision to invest and locate in Knoxville and thank Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs and the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce for their partnership in recruiting this company to Tennessee,” noted TNECD Commissioner Bob Rolfe.
ATC Drivetrain is a world leader in remanufacturing solutions for light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles, providing remanufacturing solutions for powertrain and drivetrain products regardless of the technology powering the vehicle. This includes batteries, electric drive units, engines, transmissions and transfer cases for ICE, Hybrid and Electric Vehicles. The company serves the global automotive industry from its facilities in the USA, United Kingdom and China and supports automotive OEMs for both in-warranty and out of warranty products, IAM distributors and individual consumers.
“TVA and Knoxville Utilities Board congratulate ATC Drivetrain on its decision to locate operations in Knox County. Helping to attract and retain jobs and investment in the region is fundamental to TVA’s mission of service. We are proud to partner with the Knoxville Chamber, East Tennessee Economic Development Agency and the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to further that mission and support ATC Drivetrain’s future business success in the Valley,” said John Bradley, TVA senior vice president of Economic Development.
