Signode Invests $15 Million To Establish Manufacturing Plant In Chapin, South Carolina

Signode, a manufacturer and distributor of protective packaging systems, will invest $15 million to locate its new facility in Chapin, South Carolina, with plans to create 130 jobs in the Lexington County region. The company reopen the former FB Johnston plant warehouse facility, northwest of Columbia in the central part of the Palmetto State, and produce a new product line for the packaging manufacturer.

Part of the global company Premark Packaging LLC, Signode manufactures steel and plastic strapping, stretch firm and the application equipment and accessory products. With more than a century of experience, Signode's products are used worldwide to secure items such as cotton bales, newspapers, steel coils and corrugate cartons. The company will start to manufacture industrial packaging products in Chapin, adding 63 full-time positions with highly technical skills in the first phase.
