Procter & Gamble Plans Multi-Category Distribution Center In Union, Ohio
05/15/2014
"This new distribution center is part of a significant supply chain transformation in North America that will dramatically innovate the way we supply our customers," said Yannis Skoufalos, P&G's Global Product Supply Officer. "The Dayton site is ideally situated to both leverage P&G's scale and our new distribution network to respond to customers and our consumers in a way we have never done before." According to company officials, the new P&G facility will be operational in 2015.
JobsOhio, the Dayton Development Coalition, Montgomery County, and the City of Union worked closely together to ensure that the company had the required infrastructure in place to support the $89 million, 1 million-square-foot facility.
"Ohio values its longtime relationship with Procter & Gamble," JobsOhio President/CEO John Minor, noting the company's 177-year history in Cincinnati. "Today's announcement of 800 jobs coming to Union strengthens a valued relationship and reinforces this global company's commitment to investing here in Ohio. We look forward to working with P&G as it brings what we believe will be one of the most efficient distribution centers in the world."
“This innovative approach will increase efficiencies in P&G's supply chain, putting product closer to retail and population centers as well as major transportation networks. The project will lead to the creation of 800 new jobs through third party customization and logistics providers,” according to JobsOhio, a private, non-profit corporation designed to drive job creation and new capital investment in Ohio through business attraction, retention and expansion.
"Procter & Gamble is one of the most successful and recognized companies in the world, and we are proud they are expanding their presence here in Ohio with this innovative facility that will be unlike any other in the Midwest," said Governor John R. Kasich. "JobsOhio's strong relationship with P&G and the company's confidence in doing business in our state is great news for the region and the hundreds of Ohioans who will benefit from the jobs this project will create."
"This announcement is another great example of one of the world's elite companies making an investment in the Dayton Region because they believe in the value we offer," said Jeff Hoagland, President/CEO of the Dayton Development Coalition. "We are very excited about the P&G commitment to produce jobs in the Dayton Region."
"The P&G announcement further demonstrates that the Dayton Development Coalition continues to advance job creation, capital investment and economic growth for not only Montgomery County, but for the entire Dayton Region," said Dan Foley, President of the Montgomery County Commission.
"The City of Union is excited to begin a long and successful partnership with Procter & Gamble", said John Applegate, City Manager for the City of Union. "This major commitment to create jobs in our city has been an exciting collaborative effort by the City of Union, Montgomery County, the Montgomery County Transportation Improvement District, the Dayton Development Coalition, and JobsOhio."
