“Amazon's $10 billion investment in North Carolina underscores our commitment to driving innovation and advancing the future of cloud computing and AI technologies,” said David Zapolsky, Amazon’s chief global affairs and legal officer. “This investment will position North Carolina as a hub for cutting-edge technology, create hundreds of high-skilled jobs, and drive significant economic growth. We look forward to partnering with state and local leaders, local suppliers, and educational institutions to nurture the next generation of talent.”
The investment will include the construction of a cloud computing and artificial intelligence (AI) innovation campus located at the Energy Way Industrial Park in Rockingham.
“Amazon’s decision to invest in North Carolina speaks volumes about the strength of our technology ecosystem and the confidence global companies have in what our state offers,” noted Christopher Chung, CEO of the Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina (EDPNC). “We have greatly enjoyed getting to know the AWS team through this process and are confident that they will be a great partner to North Carolina for a long time to come.”
“Richmond County is thrilled to welcome Amazon Web Services (AWS) to our community, and we’re proud that AWS has chosen Richmond County as a key location for its continued growth and innovation,” added Martie Butler, an economic developer with Richmond County.
