Compass Group USA's Expansion Project Expected to Create 200 Jobs in Charlotte, NC
06/20/2011
The NC Economic Investment Committee awarded a Job Development Investment Grant to Compass. This means the firm is now eligible to receive a grant equal to 55 percent of the state personal income withholding taxes derived from the creation of new jobs for each of the eight years in which its operations meet annual performance targets. If Compass Group USA meets the targets identified in the agreement, it could mean $1.7 million in maximum benefits for the company. In addition, the NC Department of Commerce, NC Community Colleges and the Charlotte Chamber provided assistance in some capacity to make the project a reality.
"Compass Group PLC is the 17th-largest employer in the world," said Gov. Bev Perdue. "The fact that international corporations, which clearly have a choice as to where they do business, continue to bring these kinds of projects to North Carolina proves that our investment in education and job training is paying off."
