TRISO-X Plans Plans Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Manufacturing-Research Operations

Nuclear fuel manufacturer TRISO-X plans to establish operations in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The project is expected to create 1,140 jobs.

The company will construct a new nuclear fuel manufacturing facility and research and development center at the Horizon Center Industrial Park.

“This is an important step in building a world-class nuclear fuel campus capable of powering next-generation nuclear. Oak Ridge stands as a cornerstone of nuclear innovation, and we are proud to carry its legacy forward with the continued support of the State of Tennessee,” said Joel Duling, President of TRISO-X.

The project is being supported through Tennessee’s Nuclear Energy Fund.

“Tennessee is playing a critical role in advancing America’s energy independence, thanks to the leadership of Gov. Lee and our Tennessee General Assembly in establishing the Nuclear Energy Fund. TRISO-X’s investment is a strong example of how that strategy is strengthening our nuclear ecosystem and delivering meaningful results across the state, and we appreciate the company’s continued confidence in Tennessee,” noted Deputy Governor and Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter.

TRISO-X manufactures TRISO fuel and high-assay low-enriched uranium (HALEU) fuel for advanced nuclear reactors. The company specializes in nuclear fuel manufacturing, research and development, fuel qualification, and commercialization of advanced reactor fuel technologies.
