Hoosier Logistics Expands Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Operations
08/16/2019
Hoosier will invest more than $1.65 million to expand its Indiana footprint over the next five years. At its Indianapolis headquarters, the company will consolidate the corporate functions for all of its subsidiaries, including Midwest Transportation Solutions, an asset-based trucking company; and Midwest Transportation Leasing, which provides leasing and financing opportunities for operators to own their own equipment.
Hoosier is currently in negotiations for spaces in Fort Wayne and downtown Indianapolis to upgrade its office locations and allow for future growth. The company's first satellite office in Fort Wayne will be a full-service facility offering all of Hoosier’s transportation solutions with a focus on logistics operations. This new office will enable access to additional customers and employees in the northeastern part of the state, which is the 2nd largest metro area in Indiana.
“We would not have experienced this growth and expansion without our rock star employees,” said Hoosier Logistics President Nick Likens. “The 3PL logistics segment, and the transportation industry in general, is a people-centered business and a relationship-intensive business. We are grateful for our employees that understand our customer service model and promote our Hoosier values. Constant technology changes are improving our efficiencies and margins, but people and our culture still drive this business.”
The company, which employs 34 associates, plans to create up to 35 new jobs in Indianapolis and is currently hiring for positions in carrier sales, account management and operations at its Indianapolis location and plans to begin hiring for up to 10 new positions in Fort Wayne later this fall.
The IEDC offered Hoosier Logistics Inc. up to $700,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans in Marion and Allen Counties. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis offered workforce assistance at the request of DevelopIndy. The Fort Wayne City Council will consider additional incentives.
“As the Crossroads of America and state with the most pass-through highways, Indiana is the prime location for logistics companies like Hoosier to flourish,” said Elaine Bedel, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “As a state, we won’t stop delivering on our commitment to cultivating a pro-growth, business-friendly environment so job creators like Hoosier can continue driving their business forward in all corners of our state.”
“We are proud that Hoosier Logistics calls Indianapolis home,” said Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett. “The robust pipeline of talent in Indy’s logistics sector provides the opportunity for organizations like Hoosier Logistics to grow and thrive. We congratulate them on today’s announcement and look forward to more success in their future.”
