A facility of global packaging company Sonoco plans to expand its manufacturing plant in Waco, Texas. The company will invest $13.5 million to upgrade its facility with a new rotary die-cut machine, slitter and rotogravure printing press, with plans to add an estimated 15 associates.

Sonoco produces a variety of flexible packaging options, including easy open/reseal packaging systems, bags and pouches.

“The city of Waco has been home to Sonoco for nearly 10 years, and we’re excited to further invest in our facility here, which has been a part of the community since 1986,” said Rick Brzezinski, Plant Manager. “We greatly appreciate the city’s commitment to our company’s future and to our place in the community.”

Sonoco has been a vital part of the McLennan County business community for a number of years,” said Judge Scott Felton, McLennan County Judge. “I am very pleased the Waco facility remains strong and these new investments and additions will ensure its strength continues in the future.”

“We are really glad to be wrapping this project up,” said Dale Fisseler, city of Waco Manager. “They are a great company and we are lucky to have them in Waco.”
