08/29/2025
The investment will bring previously outsourced production capacity back to the company’s advanced optical semiconductor manufacturing facility.
“At Ranovus, we’re proud to be designing and manufacturing advanced artificial intelligence solutions right here in Ontario, which relies on a world-class workforce,” said Hamid Arabzadeh, Co-Founder and CEO of Ranovus Inc. “We are grateful for the Government of Ontario’s support as we expand our operations, create good jobs and contribute to securing Canada’s leadership in the AI and quantum era.”
The project is being supported by $2 million in funding through the Invest Ontario Fund.
"We couldn’t be prouder to support a homegrown innovator like Ranovus,” noted Khawar Nasim, CEO of Invest Ontario. “What they do not only plays a key role in shaping the future of AI infrastructure, but also reinforces Ontario’s leadership in critical technologies on the global stage. Ranovus’ continued success reflects the strength of our province as a destination to innovate, scale up and drive global impact."
Ranovus focuses on silicon photonics and quantum dot lasers to enable next-generation artificial intelligence and machine learning workloads. The company’s Odin® platform provides a monolithic, co-packaged optics (CPO) solution for high-capacity, low-power connectivity within data centers, optimizing data center architecture for AI, cloud, and 5G applications.
“Ranovus is a true homegrown success story — born in Ottawa and now advancing the full semiconductor value chain right here in Canada’s capital. This strategic investment not only creates 125 highly skilled jobs, it builds sovereign manufacturing capacity that reduces supply chain vulnerabilities and strengthens Canada’s position at the forefront of AI, quantum, and other critical technologies. By going from design to wafer fabrication, dicing, testing, and packaging in our backyard, we are reinforcing Ottawa’s role within Ontario’s semiconductor corridor and showcasing the world-class talent and collaborative ecosystem that make our region a magnet for global investment,” added Sonya Shorey, President and CEO.
