Vicksburg Shipyard Plans Vicksburg, Mississippi, Vessel Repair Operations

Vicksburg Shipyard, a subsidiary of Terral RiverService, plans to establish operations in Vicksburg, Mississippi. The $26 million project is expected to create at least 44 jobs in Warren County.

The investment will include the purchase of assets and land at the Port of Vicksburg for the company’s new vessel repair and maintenance facility which will service Terral RiverService’s boats and barges, as well as service other maritime companies’ boats and barges that may have previously gone out of state for repairs and maintenance.

“We believe Vicksburg Shipyard will not only help Terral RiverService operate more efficiently but will help many of the towing companies and barge lines operating in and around Mississippi and along the Mississippi River. Bringing jobs to the communities we live and operate in has always been a focus of Terral RiverService, and we look to continue that with the growth of Vicksburg Shipyard,” Terral RiverService CEO Tom Gattle said.

To support the project Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX, program. The Vicksburg Warren Economic Development Partnership also is providing assistance for the project.

Vicksburg Shipyard’s new location at the Port of Vicksburg further facilitates the timely delivery of products to consumers as hundreds of vessels will be maintained right here at home and fit for service that much quicker. Our blue economy is one of the top in the country, and MDA is proud to welcome Vicksburg Shipyard as its newest addition,” MDA Executive Director Bill Cork noted.

Terral RiverService is a river transportation company specializing in bulk storage, materials handling, and logistics along the Mississippi River system and inland waterways, serving the Lower Mississippi River Valley.
