ABB Electrification Expands Selmer, Tennessee, Manufacturing Operations

03/04/2025
Energy technology company ABB Electrification plans to expand its operations in Selmer, Tennessee. The $76 million project is expected to create 50 jobs.

The investment includes the construction of a new 300,000-square-foot manufacturing facility at the Selmer/McNairy Industrial Park.

“The U.S. is ABB’s largest global market, so it is imperative that we continue to invest in our footprint here to better serve our customers and help them reach their energy efficiency goals. The new facility in Selmer will leverage the experience and insights of our talented local employees to increase our production capacity to meet market demand for advanced electrification technologies and enable us to continue to serve our customers in this growing market,” Michael Plaster, executive vice president, ABB Electrification U.S. said.

ABB Electrification produces essential electrical distribution equipment for large-scale industrial and technology-driven facilities, including data centers, factories and high-rise residential and office spaces.

“At TNECD, it’s important that we are not only attracting companies that are the right fit for our state but also for our communities, and I applaud the leadership across Selmer and McNairy County for taking the necessary steps to land economic development opportunities like we are announcing today. I believe ABB will continue to find success here and look forward to seeing the company’s growth in the years to come,” TNECD Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter noted.

“The Selmer/McNairy County Industrial Development Board is excited and pleased that ABB has chosen McNairy County and the City of Selmer as the location for their new manufacturing facility. This decision will preserve existing jobs and add new ones for our workforce. We appreciate the opportunity to strengthen our longstanding relationship with ABB and help them achieve their objectives in Selmer and McNairy County,” added Robert Shackleford, chairman, Selmer/McNairy Industrial Development Board.
