Point Eight Power Plans Hancock County, Mississippi, Manufacturing Complex
07/24/2023
“We are extremely excited to be opening a new manufacturing plant in the Port Bienville Industrial Park. Our decision to establish a manufacturing plant in Mississippi was driven by numerous factors. First and foremost, we were drawn to the state’s business-friendly policies, which foster an environment conducive to growth and success,” Thomas Naddy, President, Point Eight Power, Inc. said.
As an incentive, Mississippi Development Authority (MDA) is providing assistance for building improvements. MDA also is providing assistance through the Mississippi Flexible Tax Incentive, or MFLEX. Hancock County is assisting with the project, as well.
“Point Eight Power is not only investing in its own success but also in the economic development of our state. The 78 jobs being created by the company will return dividends throughout the Gulf Coast Region for generations to come, as these new employees will spend in their communities and generate an even stronger tax base for Hancock County. MDA is glad to support this project, and we look forward to the company’s success in our state,” MDA Deputy Executive Director Laura Hipp noted.
Point Eight Power specializes in manufacturing generator controls, switchgear and power control building packages. The company has provided custom-designed electrical control and distribution systems to various sectors, including chemical, critical power, marine, and oil and gas.
“Hancock County Port and Harbor Commission is committed to the redevelopment of Port Bienville and Hancock County. Our Commission acquired this property in 2021 that has been vacant for nearly 10 years and invested $750,000 dollars to rehab the production facility and attract new industry and jobs to Hancock County. We are proud to add Point Eight Power as a tenant to Port Bienville Industrial Park,” Blaine LaFontaine, CEO HCPHC added.
