Walt Disney Relocates-Plans Orlando, Florida, Regional Campus
07/29/2021
The new Disney campus will be located about 20 miles to the east of Disney World, near Orlando International Airport. While the California-based company is still figuring out which employees will be asked to relocate, they likely will be those in the parks division who aren't working full-time at Disneyland in California or in the international parks business. Workers asked to relocate will have 18 months to make the move, according to company officials.
"With more than 60,000 Cast Members, Imagineers, and employees, Central Florida has long been home to many of our businesses including the Walt Disney World Resort and most of our Disney Signature Experiences team," said Joseph D'Amaro, Chairman of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. "It is also where members of other DPEP businesses reside, including Consumer Products, Games and Publishing, and Walt Disney Imagineering, and serves as the hub for many support functions that assist our segment and the entire company."
Lake Nona is a mixed-use, planned community that is owned and developed by the Tavistock Development Company. It is located just south of the Orlando International Airport and approximately 15 miles east of Walt Disney World Resort.
“This announcement really highlights the continued collaboration in our community. We are excited to have Disney expand here with high-paying jobs in Central Florida and into Orlando’s Lake Nona community, spurring further investment in our city,” Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer said.
