Magneti Marelli Investing $15M in Sanford, North Carolina, Expansion

Magneti Marelli Powertrain Systems USA, an Italian firm that manufactures fuel systems for Chrysler vehicles, is investing $15 million to expand its facility in Sanford, North Carolina, WRAL reports. The company will also create 65 jobs.

"This project could have gone to another domestic location, one of our other global plants, or to a competitor," Magneti Marelli Director of Manufacturing Terry Russell said. "Sanford was able to demonstrate a competitive advantage over other facilities both inside and outside our company."

Magneti Marelli will use the funds to add three production lines and new machinery to its existing 250,000-square-foot facility.
