11/17/2025
The investment will include an additional 340,000 square feet at the company’s existing facility that will enhance medium voltage cable production.
“Our team is incredibly excited about the growth that is happening, and we look forward to seeing this project come to life here in Heflin. We’re already seeing the positive impact these investments are making - through the projects that have already been completed at our site as well as many others around the company’s footprint. This new expansion enables us to create more jobs and opportunity for our community and further strengthens our ability to manufacture and deliver high-quality products that serve critical customers and markets around the world,” advised David McLendon, Site Leader for the Southwire Heflin Plant.
Southwire provides electrical products for transmission, distribution, and other applications, including building wire, portable cords, and systems for producing copper and aluminum rod. The company also supplies contractor tools and equipment, and focuses on innovation, sustainability, and community support.
“Southwire has been a strong partner to Alabama for many years, and this expansion underscores the strength of that partnership. This project will create high-quality jobs and provide a major economic boost to Cleburne County. It’s another example of how strategic economic development efforts continue to deliver meaningful results for communities across Alabama,” noted Secretary Ellen McNair, Secretary of the Alabama Department of Commerce.
