The investment will include an expansion of the company’s existing site in Madison County and the redevelopment of a former manufacturing facility in Hinds County.
“Amazon is expanding in Mississippi with $12 billion in new investments,” said David Zapolsky, Chief Global Affairs and Legal Officer at Amazon. “These projects will create jobs and build infrastructure that serves Mississippi for generations.”
To support the project, Mississippi Major Economic Impact Authority funds are being utilized, with additional assistance from Madison County, the City of Ridgeland, Hinds County, and the City of Clinton. The project is also supported by long-term power infrastructure commitments from Entergy Mississippi.
“Amazon is expanding in Mississippi because we deliver reliable power, top-tier talent, and a business environment that supports growth,” noted Bill Cork, Executive Director of the Mississippi Development Authority (MDA). “This level of investment and job creation is a strong indicator of the state’s competitiveness.”
AWS develops and operates cloud computing and data center infrastructure that supports artificial intelligence, machine learning, and enterprise digital operations worldwide.
“What makes Madison County unique is how we work together,” added Joseph Deason, Executive Director of the Madison County Economic Development Authority. “This expansion reflects the strength of our partnerships and our ability to support projects of this scale.”
“Amazon’s investment in Hinds County is a milestone that reflects strong collaboration across local partners,” said Hunter Gardner, Executive Director of the Hinds County Economic Development Authority. “This project delivers significant economic impact and positions the region for continued growth.”
