Comcast Invests $21.4 Million In North Charleston, South Carolina, Technical Support Center of Excellence
04/05/2016
Situated alongside Interstate 26 in the Ingleside Plantation development, the new 80,000-square-foot facility is anticipated to be fully operational in the second half of 2016. The new facility will be located at 3450 Ingleside Boulevard near U.S. Route 78 in North Charleston. These employees will specialize in providing support for Comcast customers who have the X1 entertainment operating system, high-speed Internet and digital telephone services.
“By bringing more than 550 new jobs to North Charleston, Comcast continues to support the region’s robust economic development while making great strides to improve the customer experience. Today’s announcement marks an exciting new chapter in our positive and long-standing partnership with the Charleston community,” Comcast Regional Senior Vice President Doug Guthrie said.
With this addition, Comcast will eventually employ more than 800 local employees. In addition to the new center, Comcast also operates a 5,000 square-foot Xfinity Customer Center in North Charleston that opened in January 2015.
“South Carolina is quickly becoming known as one of the best places in the world to do business for companies in every industry. Comcast’s decision to build a new facility here and to create more than 550 new jobs in Charleston is another huge win for our customer service industry and proves what so many already know - that South Carolinians are up to the task of doing any job they are asked to do,” Governor Nikki Haley commented.
“More than just a leader in the manufacturing renaissance, South Carolina has also become a hub for office and customer service-related operations. Today’s announcement by Comcast is further proof of that and a testament to the pro-business environment that has been cultivated throughout our state,” said Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt.
