06/12/2025
Chemical company Hexion plans to establish operations in Dublin, Ohio. The $3.3 million project is expected to create 100 jobs by the end of 2028.

The company’s new global research and development center, located at 5200 Blazer Parkway, will consolidate its five existing global research laboratories into a single Innovation Lab.

“At Hexion, innovation isn’t just a commitment—it’s our catalyst for transformation and a key part of our long-term growth strategy. The launch of our new R&D center in Dublin marks a bold leap forward, allowing us to continue to pioneer next-generation solutions that redefine what’s possible for customers across the globe,” said Michael Lefenfeld, President & CEO of Hexion. “We’re proud to expand our presence in the Columbus Region, where we have access to world-class talent and an ecosystem that supports research that disrupts the status quo.”

The project is being supported by a 1.87 percent, 10-year job creation tax credit approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.

“Hexion’s decision to expand in Ohio is a powerful endorsement of the state’s role as a global leader in chemical innovation and advanced manufacturing,” noted JobsOhio President and CEO J.P. Nauseef. “This investment further solidifies Ohio’s position as a destination where breakthrough science and skilled talent drive competitive advantage.”

Hexion Inc. produces thermoset resins and related technologies and specialty products for industries including construction, automotive, energy, among others. The company is organized into two divisions: the Epoxy, Phenolic and Coating Resins Division, and the Forest Products Division.

“Hexion’s investment is a clear signal that the Columbus Region continues to be a destination of choice for global innovators,” added Kenny McDonald, President and CEO of One Columbus. “By choosing this facility in Dublin, Ohio, Hexion is tapping into Ohio’s substantial and growing talent base.”

“Hexion’s decision to build an innovation lab in Dublin further positions the city as a center for advanced research and development. This project reflects our continued focus on attracting and supporting companies at the forefront of material science and sustainable technologies,” said Dublin Economic Development Administrator Jenna Goehring. “We’re proud to partner with JobsOhio and One Columbus to help Hexion expand their footprint and accelerate innovation in our region.”
