South Korea-Based Sam Dong Expands Delaware, Ohio, Production Operations

06/30/2026
South Korea-based winding wire manufacturer Sam Dong Ohio plans to expand its operations in Delaware, Ohio. The more than $13 million project is expected to create 30 jobs.

The investment at the company’s existing facility will include the installation of new copper casting equipment that will more than double its oxygen-free copper rod production capacity, increasing output from 5.5 million pounds per month to as much as 14 million pounds.

“Demand for reliable electrical infrastructure continues to grow, and this investment positions Sam Dong to meet that need for decades to come,” said Randy Kaiser, chief operating officer and vice president of Sam Dong Ohio. “Our Delaware facility has been a cornerstone of our North American operations, and this expansion allows us to increase capacity, support our customers and continue investing in the community that has supported us for many years.”

To support the project the Ohio Tax Credit Authority (TCA) approved a 1.155 percent, six-year Job Creation Tax Credit.

“Ohio continues to win advanced manufacturing projects because companies can build, hire and serve major markets from here,” noted J.P. Nauseef, President and CEO of JobsOhio. “Sam Dong’s expansion strengthens a critical supply chain for power distribution while creating 30 new jobs in Delaware, reinforcing Ohio’s position as a state where global manufacturers can grow with confidence.”

Sam Dong Ohio, a subsidiary of South Korea-based Sam Dong, manufactures winding wires and oxygen-free high-conductivity copper products used in transformers, electric motors, automotive systems, and other electrical applications.

“This is advanced manufacturing tied directly to the future of the grid,” added Jonas Peterson, President of One Columbus. “Sam Dong’s expansion strengthens a critical supply chain at a time when power demand is rising and infrastructure needs are growing. It also shows how international companies are using Delaware to serve major North American markets from a strong manufacturing base.”
