Tower International Establishes Manufacturing Plant In Fountain Inn, South Carolina
07/13/2016
Associates at the company’s Greenville County operations center will manufacture large complex assemblies for a leading automobile manufacturer commencing in September 2017.
“Tower International’s expansion in South Carolina is an important part of the expected future growth of our North American operations. We are most appreciative of the support we have received from the Greenville Area Department Corporation, Greenville County and the State of South Carolina as we establish our first facility in the Palmetto State,” said President of Tower Americas Jim Bernard.
Established in 1993 and headquartered in Livonia, Michigan, Tower International is a leading global manufacturer of engineered automotive metal components and assemblies for the world’s largest automotive manufacturers. With an annual revenue of $2 billion, Tower employs more than 7,000 colleagues at its facilities in North America and Europe.
As an incentive, the Coordinating Council for Economic Development has approved job development credits related to the project. Greenville County was also awarded a Set-Aside grant in the amount of $100,000 to assist with the costs of building upgrades and renovations.
“We couldn’t be more excited about Tower International’s decision to do business in South Carolina. This $75 million investment and the 140 new jobs it means for Fountain Inn are real reasons to celebrate, and we look forward to watching Tower thrive in our state for many years to come,” Governor Nikki Haley said.
