Austria-Based Emarsys Locates North American Headquarters In Indianapolis, Indiana
07/31/2015
The Vienna, Austria-based company will invest $3.2 million to lease, renovate and equip more than 15,000 square feet of office space in downtown Indianapolis’ Market Tower. Following Emarsys’ launch of limited operations in Indiana in May, construction is currently underway to update and expand into its full offices, which will house a headquarters staff serving clients including eBay, Toys “R” Us, Yahoo7 and Volvo.
“The appeal of Indianapolis, which has already been dubbed ‘Midwest’s Silicon Valley,’ is evident,” said Ohad Hecht, COO of Emarsys. “The Eastern Time Zone is ideal for conducting business on both American coasts, Europe and in Asia. Additionally, companies like Geofeedia, Tinderbox and Interactive Intelligence have helped make the area attractive to a highly talented workforce. In fact, the Midwest has a higher concentration of Fortune 500 companies than any other region in the country, according to Forbes, not to mention a bevy of world-class engineering schools.”
Pending approval by its board of directors, the Indiana Economic Development Corporation will offer Emarsys North America Inc. up to $3,825,000 in conditional tax credits and up to $135,000 in training grants based on the company’s job creation plans. These incentives are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Indianapolis will propose additional incentives to its Metropolitan Development Commission for approval at the request of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.
“We continue to see a surge of tech firms like Emarsys choosing to bring quality, great paying jobs to Indiana,” said Governor Mike Pence. “As a regional hub for technical and engineering innovation, Indiana is attracting companies that are looking for the skilled and dedicated workforce needed to grow their businesses. Coupled with our low taxes and low regulatory environment, Indiana continues to prove that we are a state that works.”
Of its current 25-ember team in the United States, more than 80 percent are located in Indiana. The company is now hiring for sales, customer support and professional services positions at its Indianapolis office.
“Indy continues to attract top talent from around the globe, and our tech sector is thriving as a result,” said Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard. “I am so pleased that Emarsys recognized all that our city and our incredible workforce have to offer, and I welcome the company’s North American headquarters to Indianapolis.”
