Mott’s Begins Multi-Million Dollar Expansion At Its Williamson, New York, Facility
08/14/2014
Opened in 1955, the Mott’s Williamson production plant employs more than 300 workers and is located in Wayne County, the heart of the Western New York apple growing region. Mott’s is the leading purchaser of apples in New York.
The Mott’s Williamson plant is one of 18 production facilities operated by Dr Pepper Snapple Group in the United States. The expansion will create 20 jobs and allow the company to produce its fast-growing Mott’s Snack & Go pouches. Launched in 2011, Snack & Go has been produced by a strategic contract manufacturer and has grown to seven flavor varieties, offering Mott’s applesauce in a convenient package that can be enjoyed on-the-go.
Dr Pepper Snapple President/CEO Larry Young said, “Mott’s Snack & Go is a proven winner with moms looking for nutritious, great-tasting and convenient options for their families, and we are very pleased to be bringing its production to our Williamson plant. We are grateful for the support of the State of New York in our efforts to expand our manufacturing capabilities in Williamson, continue to build our local workforce and further strengthen the great ties to Western New York that go back nearly 60 years.”
“Mott’s renovation project is another example of the progress we are making to grow business and create new economic opportunities in Upstate New York,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said. “This investment strengthens the agricultural and food processing industry in the Finger Lakes, while also adding jobs to a major employer in Wayne County. Boosting the Upstate economy by supporting projects like this continues to be one of this administration’s top priorities.”
New York State, through Empire State Development and its Excelsior Job Program, is providing up to $300,000 in performance-based tax credits over 10 years in return for Mott’s proposed investment and job creation commitments. The company’s investment is key to retaining and attracting jobs to the Finger Lakes region.
Empire State Development President/CEO/Commissioner Kenneth Adams said, “Food processing and agriculture continues to play a crucial role in the economy of Wayne County. Creating jobs in New York State is a top priority of Governor Cuomo and it’s great news that Empire State Development could help Mott’s continue to grow in New York State.”
