Collum’s Lumber Products Expands in Allendale, South Carolina
09/28/2017
The company has expanded over the years, developing one of the most modern sawmills and planer operations in the Southeast. Along with dimensional lumber, Collum’s Lumber Products produces treated wood, poles, wood chips, biomass and remanufactured components.
With an output of up to 200 million board-feet per year, the operation currently consists of five dry kilns and a state-of-the-art planer facility that uses an autograder to ensure on-grade lumber. Earlier this year, the company also installed a 924-kilowatt solar installation onsite.
The Coordinating Council for Economic Development awarded a $100,000 Rural Infrastructure Grant to Allendale County to assist with the costs of site preparation.
“We are pleased to be able to expand our company’s operations here in Allendale to better serve our current and future customers. Innovation is key to our success in offering the best quality product at competitive prices, and the new warehouse operation will allow us to operate at peak efficiency,” Collum’s Lumber Products President Micky Scott said.
“In South Carolina, not only do we excel at making things, we’ve also built a reputation as a state that has the infrastructure in place to get finished products to customers as efficiently as possible. Companies from all over the world trust our state and our people, and today’s announcement by Collum’s Lumber Products is just the latest example of that, “ Governor Henry McMaster said.
“Today, we celebrate yet another win for South Carolina’s dynamic agribusiness and forestry industries. I offer my congratulations to Collum’s Lumber Products and look forward to seeing this family-owned business have continued success in the Palmetto State for years to come,” Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt said.
“Allendale County congratulates Collum’s Lumber Products on their success. They have been a major employer in our county for decades, providing both direct and indirect jobs to hundreds, creating opportunities for suppliers and support services as well as tax revenue to fund county services to our residents,” Allendale County Council Chairman Bill Robinson said.
“As a leader in the forest products sector in our region, the success of Collum’s Lumber Products continues to mean opportunity for hundreds of families in our area. We are appreciative of their investment in our workforce and our communities,” SouthernCarolina Alliance Chairman Buddy Phillips said.
“Collum’s Lumber Products is not only a family-owned and operated company, it has been part of our industrial family and business community for generations, and we are proud that Allendale County is home to this progressive company,” Allendale County Economic Development Commission Chair Barbara Lewis said.
