Australian-Based Ecosave To Establish U.S. Headquarters At Philadelphia, Pennsylvania’s Navy Yard
01/23/2014
“When Ecosave commenced looking to enter the North American market it visited and considered five cities in the Northeast for the setup of our headquarters,” said Macelo Rouco, CEO of Ecosave. “Thanks to Governor Corbett, Pennsylvania’s Office of International Business Development, the Governor’s Action Team, Select Greater Philadelphia and the City of Philadelphia for the great efforts made and the welcoming openness of the people we met throughout the region, we feel very well connected before we even moved to the area.”
“We have come to the conclusion that Philadelphia was the best city to both establish our business as well as live and the family and I are very excited to have moved to Philadelphia,” he added.
“From Comcast and Urban Outfitters to Ecosave, companies throughout the world are growing and creating family-sustaining jobs in an energized Pennsylvania economy,” Gov. Tom Corbett said. “Government should be an advocate, not an adversary to job growth and I am glad we could partner with Ecosave to help create 125 new Pennsylvania jobs. Our commonwealth’s greatest assets and strengths are our citizens. Their innovation, optimism, and tremendous work ethic make Pennsylvania the keystone location to live, work and thrive.”
“We are delighted to welcome Ecosave to the City of Philadelphia,” said Mayor Michael A. Nutter. “Ecosave’s move to our city is just further indication that Philadelphia is increasingly a city of choice for international businesses looking to establish a U.S. presence, attract a talented workforce, and take advantage of the benefits this region has to offer. Philadelphia, as the energy efficiency hub of the United States, is a natural fit for Ecosave.”
“Ecosave joins a growing list of successful businesses locating their headquarters in Philadelphia,” said John Grady, President of PIDC. “The partnership between the City of Philadelphia, PIDC, Select Greater Philadelphia, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been vital to attracting great companies like Ecosave, and we are thrilled they have chosen a sustainable and innovative place like The Navy Yard Smart Energy Campus for its North American headquarters.”
“Select Greater Philadelphia was pleased to collaborate with its economic development partners, including the Corbett administration, the City of Philadelphia, PIDC and other business leaders, to make the case for Philadelphia as a premier business destination,” said Tom Morr, President and CEO of Select Greater Philadelphia. “We welcome Ecosave to the region. Their decision strengthens an already thriving energy efficiency sector in Greater Philadelphia.”
Established in 2002, Ecosave has provided energy and water saving solutions to over 250 organizations in commercial, retail and industrial arenas, as well as to departments in all levels of the Australian government. The Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development’s Office of International Business Development, partnered with the City of Philadelphia’s Commerce Department, Select Greater Philadelphia, and the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation.
