The company will move into Valo Park, the prominent 785,000-square-foot multi-tenant campus owned by Tamares Group at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean. The project will retain 600 existing jobs and create 600 new jobs over the next five years.
“Appian is proud to be based in Northern Virginia,” said Matt Calkins, CEO of Appian. “In our journey from start-up to IPO, we’ve found everything we needed in the region. We look forward to many years in Tysons Corner.”
The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project for Virginia. Governor Northam approved a $4-million grant from the Commonwealth’s Opportunity Fund to assist the County with the project. Funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
“Appian is the type of company that every community would want—high-paying positions in a highly respected businesses with renowned leadership,” said Gerald L. Gordon, Ph.D., President & CEO of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority. “We are very pleased that Appian has elected to remain in Fairfax County as it grows.”
“After nearly 20 years in the Commonwealth, we are honored that Appian will reinvest and expand its headquarters in Fairfax County, creating hundreds of good jobs,” said Governor Ralph Northam. “Virginia’s leading position in the technology sector makes us a great home for cutting-edge companies as they grow and create economic opportunity in communities like Fairfax County. We look forward to our continued partnership with Appian and more announcements like this one in Northern Virginia and across our Commonwealth.”
“Appian’s major headquarters expansion and the overall impact of 1,200 valuable jobs is an important win for Northern Virginia, the Commonwealth, and our booming IT sector,” said Secretary of Commerce and Trade Brian Ball. “We are proud this innovative tech leader will remain on Virginia’s headquarters roster, and we thank Appian for its significant investment and corporate partnership.”
