Pike Research: Hybrid Trucks and Buses
Pike Research expects 300,000 hybrid trucks and buses to be on the world's roads by 2015.
9/9/2010
"Fleet managers are actively seeking tools to insulate themselves from growing fuel costs and increasingly stringent emissions regulations," says senior analyst Dave Hurst, "but at the same time they do not want to compromise on vehicle requirements. Many new hybrid truck designs introduced in the next few years hold strong potential to strike a balance between efficiency, cost, and performance."
While North America currently leads as a user of hybrid trucks, the Asia Pacific market will lead in 2011, spurred by increased demand and growth in Japan and China. Until 2015, the United States will remain the biggest single market for hybrid trucks and buses, followed by China.
