The company will locate in a 285,000-square-foot spec building at the Toledo Trade Center Industrial Park where it will assemble battery systems for electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles. Production is scheduled to start in August 2024.
“We’ve been manufacturing in Toledo, Ohio for nearly 20 years, and we are excited to continue to invest in the community with this new battery plant. The state-of-the-art facility will bring 185 good-paying, upskilled jobs to the area, and be a driving force in automotive electrification here in the Midwest,” said Dong Hee (Danny) Son, General Manager.
The project is being supported by a Job Creation Tax Credit approved by the Ohio Tax Credit Authority.
“Mobis choosing Ohio to establish its new metal base plate production for EV parts brings the company’s second manufacturing facility to the region while diversifying its operations in Lucas County. The attraction of this plant from a global leader in smart mobility demonstrates the value proposition Ohio brings as the market for electric hybrid vehicles continues to grow,” noted J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio President & CEO.
Mobis North America is the world’s largest full-service module supplier. The company manufactures the three core modules required for vehicle assembly, plus separate driver safety and convenience group components.
