FedEx Logistics Relocates Headquarters to Downtown Memphis, Tennessee

FedEx Logistics will move its headquarters to downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The company plans to invest $44 million and create 689 jobs.

The company will be consolidating its Memphis operations into the former Gibson Guitar Factory building, located in downtown Memphis. The new facility will include its 120,000 square foot office space.

“This is a moment of dynamic growth and transformation for both the City of Memphis and FedEx Logistics, and we are thrilled to be a part of this investment in our downtown community,” Richard W. Smith, President & CEO of FedEx Logistics, said. “This campus will provide a collaborative environment for our team members and a true home for this growing FedEx company as we continue to attract top talent for the future. I can’t imagine a better place to work and be a part of than the vibrant, thriving downtown Memphis business community.”

“With FedEx Logistics creating more than 680 jobs, and investing more than $44 million in Shelby County, they are once again showing that Tennessee is a great place to do business,” Governor Bill Lee said. “FedEx and its subsidiaries have been a true Tennessee success story, and we as a state are proud to see this company continue to grow and call Tennessee home.”

“I congratulate FedEx Logistics on its decision to move its headquarters to downtown Memphis,” Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Bob Rolfe said. “FedEx Logistics has been located in Memphis since its creation in 2000, and it means a great deal that this company continues to call Memphis home. I appreciate FedEx and FedEx Logistics for choosing to create nearly 700 high quality jobs in downtown Memphis and for its continued commitment to Tennessee.”

FedEx currently employs more than 30,000 people in the Memphis area. The FedEx Express hub in Memphis is the largest sort facility in the FedEx Express global network. In March 2017, FedEx announced it would make a capital investment of more than $1 billion to modernize its Memphis Hub and improve operational efficiency and reliability.

“The importance of FedEx to Memphis cannot be overstated,” Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said. “With this move, we’re bringing life back to the Gibson Guitar Factory with one of the strongest brands in the world and continuing to bring more jobs and people to our downtown.
