Hubbell currently employs 17 at its Austin location, which will be relocated to the new, larger facility in Round Rock. The brand anticipates growing from 17 full-time employees in Round Rock to 50 within the next three years.
“We’re building a progressive and dynamic lighting controls and intelligent network systems team here in the Austin-Round Rock area, one of the world’s leading technology hubs,” said Jason Sherrill, vice president of brand management for Hubbell Control Solutions. “Hubbell Control Solutions is the technology innovator within a $4 billion electrical company that has the resources and passion to sprint ahead in this rapidly shifting industry.”
Hubbell’s new facility will house seven functional teams consisting of product owners, engineers, software and mobile app developers, UX designers, and other development associates. It will also feature a fully operational testing lab.
According to Round Rock city officials, in addition to leasing a facility in Round Rock, the agreement requires Hubbell Lighting to expend at least $1 million in improvements to the facility, invest at least $650,000 in business personal property and create at least 50 new jobs within three years with an average salary of $120,000 per year.
After Hubbell meets the obligations of the agreement, the City will provide an economic incentive payment of $125,000, officials noted.
“We are excited to add such an innovative company to our community, and we look forward to their success and our continued relationship,” said Jason Ball, the Round Rock Chamber’s president and CEO.
