Canadian Solar Establishes Mesquite, Texas, Solar Production Facility

PV module manufacturer Canadian Solar Inc. plans to establish a solar photovoltaic module production plans in Mesquite, Texas. The more than $250 million project is expected to create 1,500 jobs.

The new manufacturing facility, the company’s first in the U.S., will have an annual output of 5 GW, equivalent to approximately 20,000 high-power modules per day. Production is scheduled to begin around the end of 2023.

"Establishing this factory is a key milestone that will enable us to better serve our U.S. customers with the most advanced technology in the industry,” said Dr. Shawn Qu, founder and CEO of Canadian Solar. ‘We hope that this is the first of many long-term investments we expect to make in the U.S. as we think strategically about a sustainable and resilient clean energy supply chain. We thank the State of Texas, Dallas County, and the City of Mesquite for their critical support and we look forward to working with them as we grow."

Canadian Solar Inc. is a publicly traded company that manufactures solar PV modules and runs large scale solar projects. Founded in 2001 in Guelph, Ontario, the company has subsidiaries in over 24 countries on six continents. With its acquisition of Recurrent Energy, Canadian Solar's total project pipeline reached 20.4 GW, including an increase in the late-stage project pipeline to 2.4 GW.
