Artisan Electronics Expands Operations in Odon, Indiana
06/23/2020
The Odon-based company will invest $350,000 to enhance its 10,000-square-foot headquarters at the WestGate@Crane Technology Park at 14359 Schonberger Drive, making office improvements and new computer and software investments. These upgrades, which the company expects to complete by 2023, will enable Artisan Electronics to increase its technical capabilities for key U.S. defense organizations such as Naval Air Systems Command, U.S Department of Defense and Naval Sea Systems Command, including Naval Surface Warfare Center Crane Division.
“We’re excited to offer more opportunities for exceptional people to build a rewarding career here in southern Indiana,” said Greg Sapp, vice president of Artisan Electronics. “The support of Radius, Daviess County Economic Development Foundation and the IEDC has been phenomenal, and we’re looking forward to continuing to grow and add value to our DoD clients with their help.”
"Artisan Electronics' decision to expand in Indiana continues a rising trend of defense contractors choosing our state for growth," said Indiana Secretary of Commerce Jim Schellinger. "With an extensive network of defense assets, paired with the state's business-friendly environment and skilled workforce, Indiana is the perfect place for Artisan Electronics to scale its operations and deliver critical support services to the defense industry. We're excited to support the company's continued growth and success in Daviess County."
The company also received assistance from the Indiana Procurement Technical Assistance Center (Indiana PTAC), which is committed to helping Indiana companies compete for and win federal, state and local contracts. In partnership with the IEDC, Indiana PTAC offers free, one-on-one counseling, resources and training for businesses across the state. So far in 2020, Indiana PTAC counselors have registered 233 new clients and helped secure more than $172 million in contracts that allowed businesses to create 172 new jobs for Hoosiers.
The IEDC offered Artisan Electronics up to $325,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company’s job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning the company is eligible to claim incentives once Hoosiers are hired. Radius Indiana's Regional Impact Fund will provide a $3,625 grant to expand the company’s workforce training and internship program. The Daviess County Economic Development Foundation will provide an additional $1,000 in matching funds to supplement the Regional Impact Fund grant.
“We’re very pleased to see the continued success at Artisan Electronics and our local leaders are committed to supporting their growth," said Michael Taylor, Daviess County commissioner and Daviess County Economic Development Corporation board member. “Companies like Artisan are a very important part of the strong business base we have here in Daviess County, and we appreciate them for their decision to keep investing locally and for creating new, highly-skilled job opportunities at WestGate.”
