Elwood Staffing Services Expands Its Columbus, Indiana, Headquarters
08/05/2014
The homegrown-Hoosier company will purchase and renovate a building at 4105 Vickers Drive in Columbus, located across from its current headquarters facility. The new facility, which is expected to be operational in September, will house members of the company’s corporate staff and provide additional meeting and training space.
“By selecting Indiana for new headquarters jobs, companies like Elwood Staffing are bringing economic momentum to our state,” said Eric Doden, President of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. “When companies recognize that Indiana’s low-tax model allows them to invest more into their business and training operations, Hoosiers benefit from the jobs and economic activity they create, again proving why Indiana is a state that works.”
“We are humbled and honored to have experienced tremendous growth over the years,” said Mark Elwood, CEO of Elwood Staffing. “The outstanding efforts and contributions of Elwood employees nationwide, combined with tremendous customer relationships and strong economic conditions, have contributed to the demand for our services.”
Elwood Staffing, which employs 200 Hoosiers and approximately 1,000 internal employees across the country, will begin to hire accounting, legal, information technology, human resources and occupational safety positions beginning this fall.
The Indiana Economic Development Corporation offered Elwood Staffing Services, Inc. up to $425,000 in conditional tax credits based on the company's job creation plans. These tax credits are performance-based, meaning until Hoosiers are hired, the company is not eligible to claim incentives. The city of Columbus supports the project at the request of the Columbus Economic Development Board.
“Elwood Staffing plays a pivotal role in our community’s workforce development efforts and helps connect hundreds of our hard-working residents with well-paying jobs,” said Columbus Mayor Kristen Brown. “We welcome the expansion of their U.S. headquarters in Columbus and very much appreciate their investment and the additional jobs that it brings to our community.”
